Oil Pressure Sending Unit

Mine is on the back of the engine, I think the 1993s are up above the oil filter.

I have a Duralast one from autozone, a 3 terminal unit. I've heard AC Delco units are better. My indication sometimes drops to zero when idling, with no secondary performance issues. When I apply the throttle, it will respond and increase in pressure.

Anyone used the Duralast one? I have the trans out and figured why not replace it now, cause it's obviously a PITA from the top side.

Yes, aware of an intake leak. That's next. I'm cleaning all this up with brake cleaner and shop towels before I install the RMS, pilot bushing, flywheel, clutch kit etc.

Re: Oil Pressure Sending Unit

the coolant cross over pipe banjo bolt washer are WAY easier to replace since you have the tranny out also.

IDK what resistance the Duralast sensor has. I would get the AC Delco stock replacement

Re: Oil Pressure Sending Unit

I didn't have time to order an AC Delco oil sending unit, so if it doesn't work then I'll have to get one, and R&R it from the top.

"coolant cross over pipe banjo bolt washer"

What is that? I may still be able to get to it. I'm in this configuration right now:

This was after I cleaned it, and just before replacing the RMS and pilot bushing.

Yeah, I cleaned everything up with brake cleaner, brushes and shop towels. These things are notorious for leaking at the back of the intake from what I've read. This one has been slowly leaking for probably 10 or 15yrs lol. Had a lot of blow back to clean off.

If it isn’t leaking, I would leave it alone. Damage the bolt, the block or the steam tube while breaking the bolts loose and you'll have another problem.

Re: Oil Pressure Sending Unit

I don't think it's leaking, just the rear part of the intake gasket on the passenger side. I gotta get in there with a mirror and flash light.
