oil pressure seems low....

This is on the 95 Z in the sig. The car has slighlty over 52,000 miles.

The oil pressure when idleing will be slightly above the 2 red marks at the bottom of the guage.
When crusing the guage will be at 30, inbetween the first white mark, and the 2nd(Middle) mark.
At WOT the guage will be right at the middle mark, or slightly above.

Is this normal? The 93 Z in the sig seems to have alot higher pressure, but the 93 has a factory oil cooler, and is modded....
Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

That is definatly low. I'm sure you checked the level so i would sugest checking the sending unit for the oil pressure and possibly replacing it.

Is that a PITA? Where is the sending unit located? Thanks!

On a 94 if you are looking at the engine it is like straight back from the drivers side fuel rail. Behind the intake screwed into the block. Right under/behind the EGR valve. Yes, Could be a PITA if you don't have skinny arms.

So, thoughts are that this is a sensor problem? I seem to have that exact problem. Thanks

On the 93 LT1s, the oil pressure sensor is by the oil filter, NOT on the intake.

He said it was for the 95 so I figured it was probably the same as 94.

I wouldn't think the pump would be getting wore out after 52K.
Mine had about 100K and I started using 10W- 30 instead of 5 and that brought it up.

I recently changed my sensor (90K miles) and I gained 7 - 10 psi over what it was reading before. With an electric gauge, who knows whether the old or new one was more accurate?

My dad's small block truck sensor was dying after it got hot, so I assume the sensors get cranky with age.

I have an aftermarket warranty that the dealership will fix stuff for $100, if this problem is expensive and a serious PITA I will save more time, and effort to send it them.

Any ideas on how much the Sensor costs new?

BTW: I just had the oil changed and I use 5W-30, this problem has existed for a while. I just didn't think much of it until today when driving home.

$25 for a sensor at NAPA, but you wil need a socket capable of removing it. Maybe another $10.

ShoeBox where is it located?

I seen the earlier post of them saying it was on the block....

BUT

The parts guy at the dealership showed me the exploded view of the engine and it was down by the Oil filter.

The PN he gave me was 10201491.

That part number is for 1994-1997 sensor. The 1993 has a different one (24575127).
