...or rap the bottom of the pan with a rubber hammer and listen for the pickup rattling...

Re: oil pressure problem

OK guys I'm stumped the oil pressure is not the problem the car been running just fine no loss of power but the gauge is still going to 50 psi and then dropping to 0 but no running or driving problems could it just be the gauge? And I'm running hooker comp long tube headers with 3" y pipe no cats to the single flowmaster muffler could me not having cats on the car a count for the gauge going retarded?

did you check the pressure with a mechanical gauge?

Re: oil pressure problem

If I’m reading your original post correctly, the pressure drop (and a possible knock) occurs when you are stopping. When you accelerate the pressure returns. Is that correct?

Under what conditions did the mechanical gauge read 55 PSI? That would be unusually high at idle for an LT1, except possibly when the oil was cold, or possibly the wrong viscosity. Would see that above 5,000 RPM. Did you try a hard stop while watching the mechanical gauge?

Simple questions, easily answered with "yes" of "no".

But since you apparently would rather argue about it, maybe someone else who meets your approval can help you out.

Have a nice day.
