oil pressure drop

when i come to a hard stop my oil pressure drops to zero. It has been doing this since i bought the car a year ago. i have changed oil pressure sender switch and the oil. the car has good pressure when driving and idle. when cold 60 and then when it warms up 40. when i accelerate it goes up. any idea's guys is my oil pump failing. or could it be a bad pick up in the pan?

Re: oil pressure drop

That is often a sign that the pickup tube has fallen off the oil pump.

Re: oil pressure drop

Please don't "bump" more than once in a 24-hour period.

You need to verify the loose pickup is your problem. First rule out a faulty sensor, wiring or gauge. Verify adequate oil level.

Re: oil pressure drop

Drain the oil.
Give the pan a good tap, you should be able to hear anything large bouncing around inside.
Drop the pan. Its not bad, but if you have never done it set aside 2 days. Prob need to lower the kmember.
