Oil Pressure???

what is my oil pressure supposed to run at?
when i first start my car (and its cold) it runs @ like 40psi
then after it gets hot @ idle it goes down to 22psi is this normal?
i have custom gauges so i dont know if its just the gauge?

its a bit low. Should be around 35 at idle worm, 50 cruising. Also depends on what oil you are using. Thicker oil reduces oil pressure

I use for winter time- 5w30, summer- 10w30 semi syntetic oil. 50k miles is not much for LT1. This is my way, everyone has their own way taking care of engine.

skaterz28, Your oil pressure is normal, Don't worry about it. I've had 4 Z28's and the pressure is where yours is on a stock motor

Yea...thats wrong, thicker oil will increase oil pressure not the other way around.

Hey Skater.....that is totally normal. WHen you say 40 psi cold and 22 warm, I'm assuming your talking about being at idle.
