Which Oil Pan for stroker?

I have searched these forums with several key words but came up with no luck.

I looked at summit and they have like the moroso oil pan but it says it is not stroker clearanced.

What oil pan / pickup / windage tray combo are people using with 383's these days? I know there is a canton one somewhere, any idea of the part #?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

The Canton is a 242T. It is a road race pan and ya can find it in that section of their site.

Stock pan works fine for a 383.

Injuneer is right, you can use it, but you mite have to "mod" the bottom of the pan for clearence in most cases. Some people take a rubber malet and just bang the bottom of it out. I splurged the $250 for a nice new pan

Re: Which Oil Pan for stroker?

Moroso has a "new" LT F-Body pan. I got one of the first ones made (around June 1) thru Jeg's and initially it clears the crank on my Golen 396. It looks to be a quality product. Also, I'm using the Moroso HV oil pump and pickup.

Re: Which Oil Pan for stroker?

Wow didn't know I could use the stocker...

Now that I think of it, I think I read that here somewhere but don't you have to remove thewindage trey or something? I also read here that no windage trey creates drag on the crank from the oil?

Sorry I don't mean to have you guys repeat things that may have already been said, just trying to clear things up a bit.

Re: Which Oil Pan for stroker?

If I had spent the money for a stroker I damn sure wouldn't put a stock oil pan on it that leads to ALL kind of other problems if not modified.
Like oil climbing the back of the pan on launch and going to 0 psi OP.

Re: Which Oil Pan for stroker?

Really?

I definitly don't want to run into any problems. I would rather spend the money than worry.

Does anyone else have any suggestions on what he mentioned?

Do a board search on OP/oil pan problems. That should keep ya reading for a while.

Re: Which Oil Pan for stroker?

I must be the only person around with the new Moroso LT F-Body oil pan (call Moroso, it isn't in the catalogs yet). It is a really neat set-up. Built-in windage screen/tray, baffles, increased capacity. I can't believe no one is using it, or recommending it! Also, I used their HV oil pump w/ matching pickup tube for that pan.

Re: Which Oil Pan for stroker?

I used the canton pan for mine, but the crank was hitting the crank scrapper, so I had to hit it in a few places, turn it over by hand w/ the pan on so you know if yours will clear or not.

I bought a Milidon from VRE along with there pick up and pump. Looks like a nice kit from what I seen. Nick at VRE uses the Moroso and the milidon pans

You should have told George Baxter that before he built his 1,125HP LT1, using the stock pan and the stock oil pump. No problem with 1.3-sec 60-ft launches, wheels 4 feet in the air. It does work, if done correctly.

Stock pan and pump works good and you already have it. Stock pan and HV pump - don't go there.
