Oil pan drain plug stuck...oil leaking
Oil pan drain plug stuck...oil leaking
I went to go change my oil today and I noticed there was oil on my front sway bar, my oil pan and the case over the tranny where the starter goes in at. Anyway, I went to remove the oil plug and it just spins and does not come out. How the ... am I supposed to get this oil plug out? I also noticed the oil plug had oil coming from it, but very slowly. Any suggestions?
I would try drilling a hole in the center of the drain plug and work up in size until I could pull the plug out. or you could use a slide hammer and thread it into the plug and pull out this way. But this would be my last option. Then drill and retap the hole for a larger drail plug.

or you could raise the motor, drop the pan and replace the front and rear main seals while you're in there then replace that pan with a new stock one and be GTG imo
if thats an option for ya?

ok, if you like pulling out the tranny to do the rear main seal. it is very common to do this repair and would cost much less and take a few hours instead of the whole day. if you had the parts in hand.
with luck, it's just the plug thats stripped
put a wrench on it, start turning it in the direction to remove, then try shuving(sp?) a screwdriver(or similar) under the hex of the plug, keep turning it, with luck, this will allow the good threads farther down the plug to catch the (hopefully) good plugs in the oil pan
once it is out, replace it with a new one
