Sounds like that motor was built on a Monday or a Friday. You will probably have more problems with it. Any way of finding out what day it was built?

Re: oil leaking

If its a new motor,I would go through and wipe everthing down and tighten the bolts up and make sure they are tight.

Re: oil leaking

hey guys i took that hose off that lays in the grommet on the valve cover and goes into the throttle,i pulled that plastic piece that goes in the grommet and found some weird stuff in the piece,it looked to be white stuff and wet mold. Now has anyone ever come across this or heard of it? Can the piece still be used if i clean it out very good

Re: oil leaking

Sounds like condensate mixing with the oil to form a white sludge. Could be indicating the engine is often run without the oil fully warming up, could indicate the the PCV valve is not working and allowing condensate to build up in the crankcase, could indicate excessive piston ring blowby.

Check the PCV valve on the drivers side of the manirfold, check the entire length of the vent hose from the throttle body to the passenger valve cover for oil buildup, and check the chamber under the plate on top of the throttle body for heavy oil buildup.

hey Fred i checked the pcv valve and it had white sludge on it, i sprayed wd40 and it rattles now,but is it best to replace it with a new one? The vent hose hose had white sludge in it to.The chamber under the plate had a lil bit of oil build up.

Re: oil leaking

If it rattles, you should be OK. But also check the "U" shaped hose from the PCV back to the manifold. Check the vent hose on the passenger side and the top of the throttle body.

Do you frequently let the engine idle without fully warming up? Do you drive a very short distance to work and back? Takes 10 minutes or more of driving for the oil to reach adequate temperature to drive off the water condensate.

hey Fred i changed the pcv valve, and the U shape hose is good, and the vent hose on the passenger side from the throttle is replaced too.

No lately i havent been letting the engine to fully warm up, i do drive a short distance to work and back. Thank u and im going to check for oil leaks after all that stuff i replaced, but should my leaks stop now Fred

Re: oil leaking

If you managed to totally plug up the PCV system, both the PCV valve and the vent line on the passenger side, it will build crankcase pressure and cause oil leaks. If it damaged the gaskets (blew them out) they will need to be replaced.

I'd offer two recommendations: 1) Take it out on the road often, and drive it far enough and hard enough to fully heat the oil up. Failing to do that, and only driving short trips can mess up the oil. Lacking the opportunity to heat it up fully, change it VERY frequently. 2) With the engine idling, pull the oil fill cap off, and hold your hand over it to see if you feel air puffing out, then hold your ear near it and listen for a "chuffing" sound. Keep an eye on it for signs of excessive blowby. If you have a problem with blowby at only 4,000 miles, it may indicate a problem with the engine build. You could also have a leakdown test done to determine if the rings may be worn or did not seat properly.
