DES connecting rods?
DES connecting rods?
has anyone ever heard of DES connecting rods?
A guy is selling a 396 lt1 w/ DES CBC6000I I beam connecting rods. Weight is 687 grams.
Motor also has custom dished racetech pistons. 388 grams weight.
And an eagle 4340 forged crank.
Its a really good deal, and I want to boost it (I'm currently boosting a stock bottom end lt1)

Re: DES connecting rods?

I do know they are sold by a california distributor called rpm.
Part number cbc-6000I
I'm assuming they are made in china. Which is usualy not a good thing, but who knows maybe somone here has had good luck w them.

Re: DES connecting rods?
Is it CBC-6000I or CBC-60001? Searching CBC-60001 (rather than "I" as you indicated) turns up a couple links to Ford websites. Using "I" turns up links for "rpm", but when you click on them, they are written totally in Chinese.
Re: DES connecting rods?
He claims that whatever shop picked these out for him and they wouldn't have done it if they were crap. He says he wouldn't have sprung for it if they were chinese. So I dunno?
Why don't you like the 396?
I haven't bought anything yet...
