Question Oil leak from Opti or Main Gasket Seal?

Hey guys, my '94 Z has been leaking oil for a while now and I think I have narrowed it down to two areas. However, I'm not sure as to what would need to be replaced and whether or not the job can be done by myself. The oil accumulates and collects on the metal tube/hose that runs right underneath the opti and the oil seems to be leaking from what I think is the opti. What would need to be replaced if the oil is leaking from the opti? The second area that it seems like it is leaking from is the main gasket seal. Can that main gasket seal be replaced as a weekend job? The leaking oil is bad enough to coat almost the entire bottom side of my car. Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

it could be the waterpump drive seal leaking too. I just my motor together and that little sob is leaking. I would have it fixed by now but i just don't like working around coolant.

The opti itself can,t leak oil.
It could be the front main but my money is on the water pump shaft seal.

If it is the water pump shaft seal leaking, will the oil collect on the metal hose right below the opti? Where is the water pump shaft seal located and could I replace that myself? Thanks for the help.

That is exactly where my oil was dripping off of and my WP shaft seal was the culprit.
I thought it was the main but when I pulled the WP to put a new opti on I found the shaft seal was leaking pretty good.
You can change it yourself but its kinda tricky to get the new shaft seal in without trashing it.
I would try to make sure where your leak is coming from and then you can make a decision about what to do.
If it is your WP shaft seal remove the WP and take out the old shaft seal and then get back on here and I can point you in the right direction for installing it.

Here is the waterpump driveshaft seal. The top one on the timing cover. It's the most likely of the three to leak imo.

Thumbs up

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm going to get a second opinion as where the oil might be leaking from. I hope it turns out to be something that I can do myself, because I am on such a tight budget right now. BTW, will the oil leak from the WP be enough to coat the underside of my car? Thanks again for all your help.

When mine was leaking it coated the entire timing cover.
What happens is oil gets past the seal and since the WP drive shaft is spinning it throws the oil all over.
If its bad it could definately coat the front of the engine and drip from the AIR crossover tube.
