The bolt is an M6 bolt that is aprox. 3/8's of an inch long. It has a 10MM head. it screws in above the starter. i'm uploading a pic to give u an idea.

The bolt is definitely not metric. It should be a 1/4-20 x .56 and probably a 3/8 head.

I have never found any metric bolt that threads into the LT1 block.

All you have to do is put the dipstick in and see where the hole in the mounting tab lines up. Your bolt hole should be close by.

Ur right. I'm used to all the metric bolts on the tranny's and the hedders.

The pic should help them figure out where the tube bolts to. the motor is out of my car though. I hope it helps.

LaredoZ28: Thanks for the picture

I was asking this question because I believe my dipstick tub and bracket are a little tweaked and wasn't sure/couldn't see where it should be mounted to. I have almost no visibility to the left side of my motor due to my headers.

Re: Oil dipstick bolt

shoebox saves me again. When I need to find something intricate (size and thread count of the dipstick tube mounting bolt) I literally search for shoebox and search in those for my subject! thanks again man.
