Which oil with 72k miles and slight leaks
ive got slight leaks around my oil pan and i dont feel like doing that job over again...so someone recommended to solve that problem use 10w-40.
well i did a search and ive been reading about the german 0w-30 oil and i'd like to use that since it is the "best for the LT1", but that sounds like the opposite end of the spectrum.
i currently use 5w-30, should i switch to 10w-40 or give the 0w-30 a try?

Have you tried to tighten the bolts a little? Also, Have you ever heard of "High Mileage" motor oil? We recommend it at work to anyone who has a minor oil leak or build up,and Ive seen people that usually come in a quart low, come in full after 2 or 3 oil changes.I would just try some 5w30 high mileage for a couple of your next oil changes.
well i know the bolts are tight, its a bad gasket i think. either that or not enough silicone around the corners. i was told high mileage oils were a scam. i'll give it a shot though.
You sure its coming from the pan? LT1s are not known for pan leaks, they
are known for front seal leaks, and intake manifold leaks. I would run my
hand along the back of the intake manifold to see if its wet. I posted up my
tips on oil leaks, retorquing the intake manifold stopped a "waterfall" leak on
my 95 Impala SS clone.

yes we sell high milage at work also , i dont see any differnce really then other oils . same cars still leaks no oil will cure a oil leak unless its burning oil inside the engine , so i heard , all the high miage oil just add a additve or chemicl that acutally breaks done the rubber oring seals and makes them swell up and bring life back into the 10 plus year old seals . but there is no reason to use this stuff unless persnal perfence. like a bandaid on a open head wound . you can prevent your seals form leaking simple by changing your oil every 3,000 miles or 3 months ,

my grandfather told me all the old tricks....Add trans fluid to sweel up seals, put oatmeal in your radiator to stop a leak.....Use soup cans to space out your rod bearings....It might get you home but thats it i'm sure that was probly on model T's anyway
Oatmeal, dang i was told that black pepper was the super cure all radiator stopleak.
Also a little bit of brakefluid for swelling up those pesky leaking gaskets. Is there a shade tree area on this site. It would be a good place to put all the things you should never do to your Computer controlled high output engine.
