OEM Lifters...what's the difference?

Is there any difference between lets say Comp OEM lifters, OEM lifters you would buy from GMPP or the ones from any local auto parts store? Just tossing this out there because I did a search on OEM lifters and was just curious. Thanks

Price, basically. I believe many of those companies lifters are all made by one company and they just put Comps or Cranes part number on the piece.

Re: OEM Lifters...what's the difference?

That's what I figured. I usually spend time researching aftermarket parts not OEM stuff. I had Comp R's for a while but I had three of the retainer rings break over a two month period. That's the reason why I was looking at the different OEM lifters. I Would like something a little better than stock but after doing a search, I think that I'm going to go with an OEM style lifter. Thanks for your help Z95m6, you were all over it today.

no problem, if your stockers are fine just reuse them. I'm personally running Comp OEM replacements and when i called Thunderracing they told me they're all made by the same company.

if they are all made by the same company, then why would you not buy the crane ones, they are a lot cheaper!

They are a VERY nice lifter. I run those lifters in BOTH my cars. I couldnt see spending anymore then that since both the summit lifters and crane are both made by Eaton.

Just checked sumitt. This is the P/N I came up with. SUM-HT214 It's $104 for 16 of them. Not too bad. They're listed as OEM replacements. Anyone running them with a higher lift cam?

Its just hard to belive those are the same exact lifters that comp sells that are literally twice as much. Not saying its not true. Just wish I could read something that says that.

I run the LPE219 with 560 lift and 0 problems. A couple trips up to 6800 on the dyno too.

I was going to because i never want to buy another product with the Comp name on it. when i went to order the cranes they were both on sale for about the same price and were both on back order. I told thunder i'd take which ever they got in first because i needed a set asap and Comp is what i got.
