OBD2 scanner/data log cable

Where can you get a cable for a 96 Lt1 so I can scan it while running to check for knock and few other things? Also are there any free trial programs like freescan for the obd1?

You can get the cables from aldlcable.com or AKM Cables. Not sure of the AKM site address, but google it, and you'll find it.

You can download a free tiral version of Datamaster TT. It's good for 20 uses before having to pay for it. You can find a link to Datamaster from the aldlcable.com site.

Keep in mind, you car is a '96, so you're running OBDII NOT OBDI

Is this the cable I need for obd2 and it should work w/ datamaster?

TTS DataMaster is only available for OBD-I. You would need something like AutoTap, which comes with the correct interface cable:
