LT1... Car wont start Is this bad???

The car: 97 T/A LT1 90,500 miles. Only mods are moroso intake and borla catback with exhaust cutout.

Heres what happened... Doing about 50 on the highway in second, hit the gas and it launched then all the sudden lost all power. Shifted, still nothing. *** i was rolling to a stop the car was misfiring and back firing alot. As soon as i stopped, the car shut off. Wont restart.

When trying to restart, the engine cranks over. The first crank you can hear the exhaust pop as if its about to start, then just turns over. It sounds as if it wants to start, then doesnt want to, then wants to again, spaced evenly apart.

Did i drop a valve? I really hope its just my opti. What about a fuel problem all the sudden?

*** Other note: I noticed recently that around 5700-6000 the car would misfire very slightly, so maybe the opti (or something else) blew becasue thats about what RMP i ran into these problems.

Sounds like to me you have an opti problem. Certainly a good starting point....especially with 90K. I have 97K on my 96. I plan to replace my opti when doing my cam.

Did it even initiate the SES light??? Did it flash??

For sure look at the codes first up.

Good luck and let us know what you find,

My car did the exact same thing when my opti took a dump on me. You should still scan it first though, just to be sure. No need replacing parts if not necessary.

Well my SES light was on for about a week now, i cleared it twice and it kept coming back. It was giving me 'Catslyst efficency low-bank 1". I was told its most likely b/c i have my exhaust cut out open, or a possible misfire. Another code that came up last week but didnt come back the second time was "Air system bank 2 fault' For that i replaced the relay for the air pump.

My buddy is coming over tongiht with his scanner.

Scan for codes and if that turns up nothing, I'd look at checking for spark and fuel.
