OBD1 DTC code 32
OBD1 DTC code 32
I was driving to work and my SES light came on after about 20 mi. On the way home the same thing happened again. I used a jumper to retrieve the code and found a code 32 or three short flashes/pause/two short flashes. This code lists as an EGR fault. Any of you guys know what sensor I need to replace or how to fix this issue? Can I just remove all of the EGR stuff? The car is a 93z A4 with all of the usual Bolton’s and had about 90k on the OD
Re: OBD1 DTC code 32
It might be two things..... The EGR valve or EGR solenoid valve...
How many miles is on the vehicle... My guess is the EGR valve... On my 93Z it went out around 95,000 miles...
PS. It was doing the same code in the same way....

Re: OBD1 DTC code 32
DTC 32 means the ECM cycled the EGR valve, and didn't see the expected change in manifold absolute pressure (MAP). The ECM interprets that as low flow from the system. Could be a faulty EGR valve, a solenoid that is electrically sound, but not opening fully, a vacuum line to the solenoid or from the solenoid to the EGR valve that is cracked or fallen off, carbon plugging the passage in the manifold where the pintle enters, carboned up pintle on the EGR valve, very low back pressure in the exhaust due to headers, no cats, etc.
The 1993 EGR system is also a bit unique, in that it combines the plumbing for the EGR and the passenger side AIR connection. That means a problem with the check valve for the passenger side AIR line could be faulty, allowing the exhaust gas to bypass the manifold.
