Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?

Ok, I will probably still splice myself. So you guys think with LT's and O2's in the collector 12" will be enough?

Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?

Should be fine.
Mine were about 12 inches and they reside in the pipe AFTER the collector.

Those wires dont really solder well. I knew they wouldnt take the solder for me when I tried, and then I read some reason why later. I ended up crimping mine and have had no noticable issues at all.

Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?

Maybe I'll just do the old fashioned way...twist them together and put some electrical tape over the bare wires and call it done!!!

I fail to understand why anyone would do any splicing when you can get these

cheap enough. Let alone a "twist" and tape

Second, our O2s get their oxygen supply through the back at the wire openings. NEVER make splices between the O2 and it's connector.

Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?

Extensions at the site above are 21.95 each. With the 8.95 "handling" charge it comes to a grand total of $52.85. That's absolutely ridiculous for $2.75 worth of wire and $4.25 worth of plastic. If they are gonna charge that, they could at least include some vaseline.

Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?

i agree on that, just spliced mine for my pacesetters last night. although i made 2 mistakes, #1 not checking the values before and after the extension, although i didnt have much of a choice due to a new engine going in, and #2 not realizing that 2 wires are the same color till after i cut . anyways im pretty sure i got it right, although i do think one of my o2 sensors is bad because its values are barely fluctuating on the scanner.

o and i measured with a tape then made my own, had the o2s in the collectors, came out to about 18" on shorts side, and 24" on driverside. i measured long though so i didnt have to make new ones if they were too short.

Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?

I wanted to try it and see if it would work.
Everyone said don,t splice the O2 wires themselves it will ruin them. I just had to see for myself. I did spend some time on them and did it all right, and they have worked fine. Readings are fine and the car ran 4 tenths faster and 3 MPH more after the header install so I,m gonna go out on a limb and say they are working fine.

Re: O2 Sensor Extensions?

Ok, well after all my whining I got a line on a cheap set of O2 extensions. They are $35 shipped for a pair of 12". So, I think I'm gonna go ahead and get them. But, does anything thing 12" won't be long enough?
