How to clearance timing cover???

I am going to a Cloyes Double roller, and an EWP, just need to know how/where to clearance the timing cover? I have also read, that with an OBD1 conversion, the CPS is not required, but the reluctor ring is in order to seat the gear, and correctly space the hub...does the reluctor require modification as well? What's the recipe for success here??? Thanks all.

Here's one we did recently:

That should give a general idea.

The reluctor ring should come out and you should use a 93-95 hub if it was in an F-body, not sure about the impala cars, may be a similar situation for you guys. The 96/97 hubs were shorter due to the reluctor ring being in there.

When we did my install, atljar put white grease on the timing chain, put the cover on with a few bolts, turned the motor, and where ever there was grease on the timing cover we grinded down and checked again.

Thats how I did it, needed very little work to take care of it. More cleaning up casting rough spots than really taking meat off.
