o2/ knock sensor questions
k i just burned out my right o2....i was wonderin what brand o2 would be best...cause i run race gas most the times at the track..and i'm guessin that's what burned out my o2 since it happend the day after my last trip to the track....also...is there any kind of wide band o2 for our cars...this way i can keep a closer eye on my air fuel and do a better tune on my car(i have pcmforless right now...but the car is running WAY too rich...brings tears to the eyes of anyone behind it)?..sorry if these are dumb questions..i'm just starting to get into tryin to tune my car and fuel system myself....also..i just went through my second knock sensor in about 6 months....now my engine is nowhere near stock(396 stroker..all forged...just bout every bolt on cept an electric water pump lol)...could the vibration from my poly mounts and long tube headers be causing it to wear faster...also i just flushed out my cooling system..had a bad corosion problem..i know the knock sensor sits in a coolant jacket...could the coroded coolant have somethin to do w/ the failure?,...any help as usual is appreciated
Re: o2/ knock sensor questions
Are you running leaded or unleaded race fuel?
The knock sensor is a little piezo microphone, but its not real fragile, though. How did it fail? Did you check the resistance before replacing it? Its conceivable that sludge in the coolant could be blocking the sensor or damaging it.
There is a relatively low $$$ ($350) wide-band meter/sensor setup available from Innovative Motorsports:

I assume you are aware you can't just replace the stock narrow-band sensors with a wide-band replacement. They do not have the same output signal levels.
Agree... very difficult to read.

Re: o2/ knock sensor questions
sorry bout that, i'll try to make things easier to read. i try to just type in short not really complete sentences to keep things brief. thanks for the help,..i'm gonna look into that wide band setup,i'd like to eventually go w/ a stand alone management system like FAST. i think i might switch from my pcmforless tune to using lt1edit for now though, anyone know anywhere in ny/nj that does good lt1 dynotuning. i know a ton of ls1 shops but no lt1 places
also i run leaded race gas most of the time at the track...last weekened i ran 110 because i have no cats on the car and it obviously runs better on higher octane, should i stop doing this??

Re: o2/ knock sensor questions
Capitalization, like normal people use, would help. It's not hard to be brief with complete sentences. If your post is hard to read, people are not going to bother to read it. I know I skipped by it the first time.
I'm pretty sure it takes a special O2 sensor to run leaded gas.
