Not Starting, White Smoke?
Car Died On Shifting From 2nd To 3rd Gear, I Tried To Crank Back Up, It Ran For About 5-10 Seconds Then Died Again After That Did Not Crank Again. I Also Seen White Smoke Coming From The Engine Not Sure Where. I Just Finished Puting On A New Starter And Timing Chain, I Am 99 % Sure It Is Lined Up Correctly, Tried To Crank And Same Thing, Except White Smoke Coming From Rubber Hose Connected To Cold Air Intake. Need Help Thanks.
Re: Not Starting, White Smoke?
I am 99% sure your timing chain is NOT installed correctly. Those symptoms tell me your timing chain is to blaim. Before you go pulling the front off of your engine, go ahead and check for vacuum, and MAKE SURE the new starters pinion gear is not jammed against the fly wheel (like when shifting, the bolts didnt back out and the starter moved). How long did you drive before it took a crap? Was this its maiden voyage with the new timing chain? Check cylinder compression as well, however I would deffinatly check out the starter and the timing chain if your vacuum checks.
I hope this information helps.
