Not a newbie, but why all the "DO A SEARCH"
Not a newbie, but why all the "DO A SEARCH"
This board always seems to get new information when someone brings up an old question... Someone always chimes in with DYNO numbers, or Pictures, or sound clips, or new information... Somethings should have a search done before asking, but other things should just be restated, it keeps this board a never ending knowledge base.... What do you all think.

Yea true, but a lot of the times people post topics or questions that really are basic and simple and they make it seem like they make no effort to search for the answers prior..
Like, how can i get ahold of Jason Cromer? who has the cheapest opti or hot cam kit price?
It some cases, yes i agree, new info is provided.
So you just gotta look at each topic/thread and go from there i guess..

99% of the time, when "do a search" is a response, a simple search of the forum, would have resulted in several threads with the answer to the question originally asked.
It's rude of a person to ask a question that has been answered over and over, when a little work on the askers' part would have produced pages of topics with answers. But in todays (rude) world, people seem to think they are more important than any given group as a whole -everywhere they go they think they should be catered to -including here.
Don't get me wrong, people should feel free to ask questions. But they should also take the brunt of the "work" invloved with being a member of any given forum upon their own shoulders. Using the search button would be one way they could help themselves, the forum, and all members.
Imagine how neat and easy to use this forum would be if all information related to the intake leak (as an example) were in one thread, instead of spread throughout 48 different threads. This won't happen with people opening their own (self serving, all important) threads.
Oh, and this isn't a tech question; So - Wrong Forum!

I have been here a LONG time and I never just tell someone "DO A SEARCH".
It is really simple ...If you don't want to answer a newbie question....Then just don't answer it. You come more of an **** when you answer with... DO A SEARCH.
Depending on my mood...is how I decide if I want to mess with the newbie question or not.
Just my .02 worth.

Having been pounding out answers here for more than 4 years, I'm sure there are some questions that I have answered at least 100 times. I know the answers are out there, often explained in excruciating detail, and it seems like a POLITE "do a search", with a little more info like when the post was on the board, which forum, and the best search words is the most effective use of my time. If that's being an "****".... then so be it.
PS: please don't over ride the language filter.

I agree with you in the sense that if everyone did a search did a search and no one ever posted there would be very little to search.
However if you've been on this board a while you'll see that on certain days on one page there will be three different threads about "which cat-back to buy" or "hotcam vs CC305 vs XE224/230" etc
I've learnt alot about my car from this board over the years and very little of it was from asking questions. 99% of what I know is from searching and reading.
