Non vented opti

Re: Non vented opti
I just typed a long reply and the internet went out when I hit send lol... so here's the short version!
1. Car left me stranded with no spark.
2. Towed it home, then it fired right up.
3. Ran for a while, then died again.
4. After chasing wires, dissecting optis, and chasing 5v signals I found the cause.
5. Half-*** connection at the ICM.
6. Pulled it halfway out to put it in a "bind".
7. Has ran perfect ever since.
8. I can go plug it fully in right now and the problem will show back up.
9. Only happened when it was hot under the hood, like yours.
10. 300, 000 miles on the stock opti now lol

Re: Non vented opti
Just a quick and probably last update. Since I've cleaned the connectors I haven't had any issues whatsoever. Been running it fairly hard and in warm climate, still no issues. I'm gonna call this done and done.
Thanks everyone for your input and help.

Re: Non vented opti
Few threads about it
Given the cheap store brands ones have always been crap and AC Delco are now all reman (although reportedly still good) the AC Delco reman from rockauto.com is the way to go
The common failure reason seems to be the optical sensor now used... the original Mitsubishi ones are apparently NA now.

See post #6 in this thread, where you just made the same recommendation.
