Re: Non vented opti

AC Delco rebuilt, core return required. As close as you will find to OEM.

Re: Non vented opti

That's kind of scary given the reviews I've read online for them. Guess I have no other viable choices.

Thanks

Where have you seen "scary" reviews? I follow several LT1-focused boards and have not seen anything significant. On the other hand, current batch of MSD's are failing at an unbelievable rate.

There was a vendor on ltxtech.com who claimed the Summit Opti's are in a fact from a large stock of (non-rebuilt) Delphi units they bought out. No way to verify that though.

Amazon and various message boards. Seems like they're hit or miss reliability wise. Sounds like 94Z28LS1toLT1 kind of hit on that some.

Re: Non vented opti

Your title says non-vented, but you didn't mention that being important in your post. I thought the vented ones were preferable?

Re: Non vented opti

Previous posts suggested Petris Enterprises. They say they use Mitsubishi -grade optical sensor modules. (That means they have a module that is just like the AC delco but is made by someone else).Anyway, they seem to have this down as they work on Vettes everyday.Might check out their site.Hope this helps.

Re: Non vented opti

Thanks Fatdog.

Opti works fine when engine is cool or has sat overnight. Starts right up. The last couple of days I've been getting the DTC 36 code on my scanmaster when driving longer than 20 min. I reset the code, same thing happens. I'm going to check the wiring today but preparing myself for the worse.

Might watch this video on U-Tube.------Buick Know How:LT1 optispark(abits)distributor operation and diagnosis----
Notice how they always check the wire harness connector first and their testing of it.Hope this helps.

Re: Non vented opti

Thanks again. I haven't checked the wiring but there's a chance that could be the culprit. I took my intake off last week to fix the common rear oil leak and noticed a lot of the wires on the passenger side of the engine were brittle. Even had to rewire the #2 fuel injector because the wire actually broke. Hopefully it's just a wiring issue. I have a spare opti wiring harness.

Re: Non vented opti

Here's something else to add. I didn't check the wires to day. Just erased the error code and went for a drive. Everything was fine. Drove fir about 30 minutes, still going fine. Decided to play around a little at a stop light and got a little spirited and when the RPMs got to about 5k, the car stumbled and the DTC 36 code came back on my scanmaster. Cleared the code again, drove fine when I drove normal but same thing happened when driving more aggressive.
