no power to pcm

After I fixed the water pump seal leak I had 4 weeks ago, I started to have a starting problem. The car would start and immediately die. It would do this about twice and then turn on with a poor idle. It drove ok but I did notice a small loss of power. It kept on doing this for 2 weeks and I did not know what was causing it.

About 2 weeks ago, I was at my girlfriends house and I was leaving. I turned on the car and immediately turned off. This time, it wouldn’t stay on. I tried about 20 times with the same results. I also noticed that my scanmaster wasn’t on. Luckily, there is a mechanic that lives across the street and heard my car not wanting to turn on and he came to help me out. I mentioned something about my scanner and he took a look at it. He checked how I wired it and got a voltmeter to check the fuses. He noticed that the fuse for the pcm didn’t have any current. He said that’s the problem. There is a short somewhere. He got a little piece of wire and wired the pcm fuse to another fuse and the car turned on like there was nothing wrong with it.

I’ve been driving it like that for about 2 weeks now and every time I do a full throttle run, the wire gets burnt up or the fuse blows and the car turns off. I don’t want to deal with having to change fuses every day anymore. How can I get this fixed and where should I start looking? The mechanic said he could fix it for $80 but I don’t know if that’s too much for what needs to be done. Please help me out guys. Thanks.

80 bucks is a good deal. It takes time to fix these problems. dont try this yourself unless you know somethin about wiring and have a full wiring schematic for your car. but 80 is very reasonable if not cheap.

$80 = VERY REASONABLE to trace down wiring nightmare.
