no/low oil pressure, help!!

my new motor has about 300 miles (has a new melling high volume oil pump) on it when i see the oil pressure drop at idle to around 10 psi, then about 10 min. later it goes all the way down to zero so i pull over and get out to find an oil leak spraying oil on the passenger side header. well i fix the leak (dip stick not in all the way) and then start the car back up...still no oil pressure at idle, and about 7 psi above 3k rpm. i reach back to the sending unit and the yellow wire falls off in my hand...so i figure, ohh okay, it wasnt making a good connection, so i left it unplugged (guage pegged out high) and drove the hour drive back home. then yesterday i changed the oil, filter, soldered the wire back up, tested my new connection (continuity test, its good) and the same thing is happenening. i took the valve cover off, and the oil is slowing pooling up in the head when running, and above about 3k it barely spits out the pushrod ends...i thought it was supposed fill up with oil pretty fast?? so, am i looking at a new oil pump now? or does this sound like a bad sender?

It sounds like the pick up tube fell off the pump.Try draining the oil and tap the pan to see if you can hear it rattling in the pan.

Never did it,but I believe its possible.Remove the mounts and jack it up.You may have to turn the crank to get it out.

i fixed it, the entire oil pump had come loose, and the pickup was almost off the pump, so i welded the pickup to the pump, and put lots of thread lock on the pump bolt...70psi now
