water pump; please enlighten me?

My car heats up to extreme, over about 30 miles. Its a progressive problem; it gets warmer despite driving conditions. While the fan kicks on, it keeps getting warmer???

Yes, I've bled the system, and I bled it again today. Little amounts of air escaped; didn't seem significant.

Any ideas???

Hey my car did that too. I tried to rule everything out but the true signs of overheating like steam gushing out when I took the rad cap off or knocking noise. Finally I just changed the temp sending unit. I think $10 bucks from the dealer. And that was it.

Open your rad cap after turning the car on (COLD) and make sure the coolant is swishing around in the rad to verify the water pump is working. Also check your thermostat, you can take it out and boil it in water. I would start with these if you haven't done this already considering you've already bleed the system and you say the fan comes on.

I thought that the coolant would bypass the radiator until the thermostat opened??
