Please don't run more than 25psi in them on the streets if you want any decent life out of them. I've been through 4 pair of nittos, and I ran 32psi in the first pair and got several thousand miles less out of them. I now run 20psi in my 275/50/15's all the time and I drive 80 miles/day, and they wear out the middle some still, but not bad. The last 3 pairs I've got 14k+ out of all of them, and thats with some burnouts.

14k w/ burnouts.... Sounds pretty good for a soft compound tire. I have them at 25psi now. I might drop them down some for thr track tonight.

TY,
Mike

Most tracks wont even let you do a 15 second burn out...let alone launch it a little to see if you stick. Just do a burn out until you see some white smoke.

Ive got the same tires you are getting...granted my best 60 ft was only a 1.8, i know i can get better tho. Oh yeah, dont go thru the water...u dont need to with the nittos...

The 555R everyones referring to is the other Nitto performance tire different from the drag radial correct? Just checking because I had Nitto DR's on my SS wheels I just sold, I'm looking for a new tire for the back for my 18x9.5 Y2K C5's that might see a little track use and was thinking of the 555R. Nitto dr's last about 10-15k, you guys are saying this 555R only makes it to 15K too?

I usually refer to them as Nitto drag radials, not 555R's. Anyone running this other Nitto NT 555 tire? Just wondering how well they compare to the DR's I assume they would wear better.

k well Im going to go ahead and get the tires wet. Since most of you have recommended it. And I was told that dry hopping isnt a good idea on soft compound tires.
