Installing rear brake pads, how do I drain "two thirds of the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir?"

I recently changed the front rotors and pads on mine and I used, strangely enough, a turkey baster to suck out the fluid (of course, never use the baster for anything else now )

 

Whatever you do, be VERY careful with the brake fluid. It will destroy the paint instantaneously..... melt right through it. One drop and you will have a mess.

From my experience, pushing the 4th Gen pistons back in the calipers does not move a lot of fluid back into the reservoir. I've done it without removing any fluid.

But, you need to watch it carefully, because the fluid will ruin the paint whether you drip it out of a turkey baster, or blow it out of the reservoir.

 

Just got back in from changing the pads a little while ago. Went pretty smoothly, used a turkey baster to good effect. *Did* spill some brake fluid on the headers, then when I started up the engine I thought it was on fire, smelled so bad.

Squeek that was bugging me for weeks seems to be gone. However, I noticed that there still seemed to be a goodly thickness to the pads left, and that there was still a little ways to go before the wear indicators.

Could've been something else causing the squeek?
