NEW TO SITE. 1993 lt1 into a 1995 z28?

I Have a 1995 z28 with a bad motor. I have a 1993 Z28 lt1 complete with computer. will this motor go into 1995 z28? I was thinking of putting the old computer in with engine.Do not know if this will work? also what transmission should I use. I have both autos.

It will be easiest to swap the 95 intake manifold, optispark distributor (with timing set and drive pin) and knock sensor onto the 93 engine and use the 95 computer, harness and transmission. There are many differences between the 93's and 95's but the basic block is the same. Using the later computer will be friendier for future tuning and the later distributor wil be more reliable as well....

Good luck!

Lots of differences between the 93's LT1/4L60/ECM setup, and the 95's LT1/4L60E/PCM setup. Your 95 4L60E needs the 95 PCM to shift it and lock up the torque converter. The 93 ECM will not shift it, or supply the pulse width modulated TC lockup signal.

93 runs speed-density (no MAF sensor) and batch-frie injection (compared to the 94-97 full sequential). Nothing you can't live with, but you need to be aware of the differences.

I personally would keep the 95's PCM, wiring harness and 4L60E, and swap over the critical parts of the engine from the 95 to the 93 - intake manifold and fuel rails/injectors, vented Opti with vacuum harness (which requires swapping the cam, timing set and timing cover), throttle body (93 will have TV cable for the manually non-electronic 4L60, and a different IAC vavle electrical connection), AIR and EGR plumbing.
