new problem - too much oil

ok i still never figured out why my car just died on me, but now it seems i mad a mistake in how much oil leaked out of my intake manifold and may have put way too much oil in it? can this cause any major damage? and now that i drive it at normal driving it shift fine no problems but when you give it gas and accelerate at higher RPM's it almost seems to slip....and it makes a noise like a rod is knocking i think it may be a flywheel? or in the early stages of throwing a rod...anyone got any ideas?

first of all, how much oil did you put in your car? with the intake leak (if its bad enough) it WILL drip down onto your flywheel and destroy your clutch disk, i had this happen to me, and it has happened to others.
This site is very helpful with the LT1 intake problem
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Downs/4013/ol.html

the loss of power at high RPM might (i stress might) be "windage" the froth of oil from the crank spinning it up (like a blender) LT1's have a windage tray to Block this, but since you said you may have put to much oil in, the windage tray may be rendered useless.

any more info on the knock? are you sure is bottom end? does it only happen at a certain time?/rpm? /idle?

i believe 3 or 4 i know this was an idiotic thing but my oil pressure gauge was reading low and the guy told me it leaked oil regularly so i put a lil too much in it i was worried of locking the motor up by running it on too low of oil and it starts doing this noise at like 3500 or 4000 RPM's...and the intake leaks out of both sides so its pretty bad...is the clutch disk hard to replace?

so what your saying is that ive over lubricated the car and it leaked on to my crankshaft? the knock comes everytime but only when you accelerate at higher rpms not at idle or normal driving.....

Hum. Well Flywheels are only for manual cars, Flex plates are installed on automatics, you may want to rename the topic.

3 - 4 Quarts of oil is not enough, our cars take 5. you might be starving the engine of oil, and making it knock :/

personally i wouldn't start it at ALL until the intake was fixed, its not that hard to take off either. it could be done in an afternoon.

The problem here is no one knew your car was an automatic. What you need to do is click on the "User CP" on the red task bar at the top of the page, click on Edit Signature, and insert the basic info about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and any major modifications. That way is shows up in every post, and people have the info they need to help you.

You are aware there is a "dipstick" that you use to determine what the oil level is - BEFORE you add any oil?

I'll change the title, but he already started a new thread instead of continuing this one.
