Angry New optispark, new plugs, new wires, still misfires

Hey guys, I just swapped plugs, plug wires and a brand new optispark from Jason. I also checked the fuel pressure, it reads ~40psi at startup and doesn't drop below, it seems. Here are the codes i'm throwing:

p0160
p0171
p0300 (misfire detected)

has anyone had anything similar to this happen before? I just had 1.6 rockers put on, could this be part of my problem ? It never did this before, its been pretty random and abrupt.....

Could it be the alternator? Should i have my alternator checked/tested to see? I've seen bits of my alternator wire eaten up by a belt - to the bare wire, but sealed it back up. Also, my idle seems to sag a bit every once in a while. Could the alternator/battery be the culprit?

I do have a delteq, and i checked the resistance on the coil towers, all seem to read the same (not sure what resistance they should read, but they all read the same ... 6.2x ohms). Also, the opti-box LED indicates no problems....

thanks!

P0160 Heated O2 sensor circuit insufficient activity Bank 2 Sensor 2-B
P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)

Check the MAF Sensor and Ignition Module.....................

Other items to check for below.........

A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* Faulty spark plugs or wires
* Faulty coil (pack)
* Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
* Faulty fuel injector(s)
* Burned exhaust valve
* Faulty catalytic converter(s)
* Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
* Faulty camshaft position sensor
* Defective computer

how old is the water pump? Did you get new gaskets and rtv it after optic install. I had one that would leak the smallest little bit and still cause my car to stumble badly at random times.

How did you test your fuel pressure? With key on and engine off you should have a reading of 41 to 47. Then, with key on engine running, you should see a 3 to 10 psi drop from your first reading.

with Key On Engine Off i get a very low reading. After turning a few times it'll read maybe 20psi. When cranking it will shoot up to about 40 psi and after driving will ease back to about 35-37 psi.

Could the lean condition be because of my injectors? Should i have them cleaned/replaced?

thanks!

water pump is not leaking, i have a delteq so i doubt the optical portion is being affected much if at all unless i just happen to have a gaping hole down there.....

could it be a clogged fuel filter? i do run a number of fuel additives (seafoam and one or two others)

Try the fuel filter, cheap replacement. But I do not like how the fuel pressure is acting for you. If the filter does not fix it then it could be the fuel pump or injectors. A clogged filter could cause a problem with fuel delivery for sure.

I would double check fuel psi one more time. After you replace the fuel filter. It sounds like a fuel pump to me. Unless there is fuel present when you remove the vacuum line off of the fpr. You can also check the fuel pressure with the engine running. Remove the vacuum line off the fpr with the engine at idle. It should read between 41 to 47 psi and then drop 3 to 10 psi when you reconnect the vac line.

Since it's not in your signature, do you still have cats?

Have you tried swapping the left and right front O2's?

Oh yeah, last question, do we ignore your post from yesterday that said you finally fixed your misfire problem?????????

LOL, i thought i fixed it, but then it came back - it WAS the optical sensor in the optispark. I replaced teh opti and it ran a LOT better, but it was still missing. I sorta got ahead of myself on the other thread. I came back to find out that the whole section of the o2 sensor harness extension was absolutely fried :P

so yanking the driver side o2 sensor extension harness fixed the prob.... now i just need to fix the wires and i should be OK.....

sorry for all of the posts
