To even get to the back bank of spark plus you have to be underneath and its a pain.
On a side note I just had my 74 year old grandmother call up the ins. company to see how much full coverage would be on a 93-97 Z28...about 65$ a month.
This great news tempts me to look for a cheap 98 Z28 eventhough i dislike the newer fron fascia i like the lines in the hood...Ive seen a 6spd 98 for 8,000obo and I have seizures just thinking about owning the car. Ive also seen a police package z28 ls1 98 that has a 5 speed auto transmission...was this all ls1s or just police cars? What are ls1s problematic about?

It seems fewer places are carrying lt1 stuff or at least advertising it. It is amazing what a ls1 motor can do, but the same can also be said of the lt-1. These are two great motors from the General. Besides if a guy wanted to, why not swap in an ls1. I'll never get rid of my car purposely or I don't plan on it. It is the year I graduated High school and all so I'd like to hang on to it.Besides, Joe Overton seems to be handing many ls1 guys their asses with his bad as lt1. The potential for both motors is awesome, so it's gonna be a matter of personal preference.

I need info on what specifically to look for when buying these cars so i dont get jipped as well as opinion on cars Im already looking at.
Im hell bent on the car :
1. being a 6 speed unless there is potential in making the stock automatic transmision(through shift kits or maybe on down the road a rebuild-poor bastard budget) faster than a manual with a short throw shifter

2.T-tops...I love the idea of these(maybe its my inner mullet
) but are they bad about leaking? Are they heavier due to structure ridgity issues like with converts?

Unless you're an amazing driver, an automatic will almost always be more consistent, and the difference in power is negligable. The 4l60es are actually good, fast shifting trannys, we're not talking ford AODs here
A lot of ttops leak, its hit or miss really. The difference in weight is negligable, not worth worrying about unless you plan on going all out and it being a race car which I doubt.
I wouldn't let that decide the car youre going to buy, you can get a set of leather seats for $4-800 and it takes about 30 mins to swap them out

Bolt on LT1's and Bolt on LS1's are no match. An LS1 will walk away each time MOD FOR MOD. Once you get into a heads/cam and stroker applictations it starts evening out. Good thing these LT1's love nitrous
LT1 parts are cheaper too, but a pain to work on sometimes. When you go to buy an F-bod, ask for the service records to see if it's been well maintained. Good luck on your car search
