In my 93Z, I just have a Sony radio, black face, w/ infinity speakers...... Nothing special... I use my money on performance, not sound... Welcome to the board...

Remember to read the FAQ, and use the search function... No question is stupid, just asked a few times in the past...

Welcome to the site and I do have to say - great username.

Any CD player will work in there for the most part but you'll have to get a kit that allows you to mount it correctly. I've always had great success with Kenwood.

I also suspect a moderator will move this to the Stereo & Electronics instead of LT1 Engine section.

I use Hooker Aerochamber muffler for a quieter sound at cruising.. The Flowmasters were just to loud for me, plus the reverberating...

I like the flowmasters because you get to keep your stock pipe tips. Me i like to hear a deep sound when im in the car and out so hopefully 80 series will do that

Thanks

i use panasonic cd players, always have, always will. I had two kenwoods, both crapped out. If you ever plan on running amps for subs or anything, panasonics have one of the highest volt pre-outs as well making the sound better as well.

It's a shame your 93 doesn't have a cd player to start with. Mine did, but I put in a JVC in dash DVD/CD player. Nice little flip out screen, and my kids love it, they can watch movies on road trips

Go GMMG and you will never go back! I have an old Pioneer head unit in my '95... works pretty good. Keep the money for mods!

CD player

I have a 93 Z28 also. The car came with a Bose system w/aCD. It was marginal at best. I now have a Kenwood with a Pioneer graphic equalizer and MB Quart speakers. I do not like the Kenwood. The MBQuarts and the Pioneer EQ are superb! I've had Pioneers in the past. The Kenwood tries to do much with it's unit, making it very difficult to program. One of the problems I have is that I have installed a 3" Corsa exhaust system on this car. Too loud, so loud it drones out the sound of the stereo. In retrospect, I would have kept the stock GM muffler. It did have a slight rumble to it and it made the car more pleasant to drive. Camaros are a noisy car to start with. There are many posts on ways members use to quite down these cars. My wife's 2002 VW Passat has a CD player. A great sounding unit with lots of gain on both AM and FM bands as well as super quality sound with the CD. The wrecking yards are getting about $125. for them.
As far as engine upgrades go, I would consider GM's 1.6 RRs and new valve springs. Perhaps the of the LT4 variety. some people like the Beehives, others say they are too noisy. Just these 1.6 RRs and springs will give your car much more power. and not turn it into a car the police want to stop for a noise violation .

You only have one muffler, and one cat. Stock exhaust is a Y-pipe to a single cat, 2.75" intermediate pipe back to a single cross-flow muffler, with dual outlets. Best performance gain will be provided by a 3" catback system. And there are better mufflers than the Flowmaster 80-series.
