new cam ?

Question new cam ?

i want a new cam and i have read alot of great things about the hot cam but i have to take it slow with my money ..i can do all the work my self and its on a 93 z23 a4 i want a little bigger than the hot cam . i was wanting a couple opinions on what i could find out there but like i said its CAM only for now and then im gonna get a stall and true duals them income tax get a set of heads or just tinker with mine . any and all suggestions will be apprecialted

size of the cam will depend on what the application for the car is because it'll determine your powerband.

Do all the supporting bolt-ons BEFORE the cam or you'll be disappointed with the results. Get a good stall and all the bolt-ons. After that consider the cc503 or cc305. Both will work well. Or get a custom grind.

well i kinda figured all that but i can get a very good deal on one right now and dont wanna pass it up..what kinda hp would i get i just found out that it is a cc 305 but like i said all the bolt ons will be there along with the stall and gears

You will need springs and retainers to fit, at a minimum with the new cam. Stock rockers will also limit the lift you can use. The 305 works decent.

will i need that with any cam or just the cc305 ?

The stock springs are just adequate for a stock cam. If you aren't putting in something more aggressive, you will need a better spring (with retainers to match). Otherwise, there is no point to the swap. About the only thing you can do with stock springs is use the stock cam but switch to 1.6:1 rockers. This will give 10-15hp, but puts the springs very close to coil bind.
