New 355 installed...Will not start!
Let me again clarify that he said bad cam was a huge long shot, he is not blaming the cam.
Here are the facts.
I definitely have 41# of fuel presure at the rail.
I definitely have spark.
I definitely have compression.
I definitely know the opti is indexed correctly.
I know the injectors are pulsing.
I know the timing set dots are lined up.
I know the cam is degreed.
I know the !@#$%^ engine is cranking.
All this added up means that something should explode somewhere at least for better or worse.
I have the rockers set at 1/16" - 1/8" turn past zero lash. I am going to set them 1/2 turn past zero lash and try that. Maybe the valves just are not opening enough. Maybe the lifters just cant pump up enough untill the engine actually runs. I have the beehives which are much stronger than my old LT4's.
I dont know what the hell else it can be.
This is just stupid.

Its alive!!!
It threw a DTC 16 which said bad low res on te opti. I threw a second opti on and it fired up nicely. The wierd thing is I was getting an injector pulse on th bad opti, maybe it was an insuficient pulse or I was testing it wrong. Who knows?
Anyway I am going to take these two optis and make one good one. Engine sounds majorly bad ***. Thanks all.

Y'know.. I was thinking yesterday... "he's got a bad opti"...
Especially when I heard that it was "chugging"... as that's what my opti did when the rotor came flying off.
Sorry I didn't post it earlier

The funny thing this is the same GM opti that came off the car with the previous well running engine. So somehow the sensor up and died off the car. Wierd.
Oh well, I have two GM optis and one brand new Accel opti. The Accel is a replacement straight from the factory to replace what I considered to be a defective first one.
I took apart the first Accel opti and saw that the segmented pulse wheel was warpe and actually rubbing the infrared sensor. This of course can not be considered normal. I called the factory and complained and they sent me a replacement.
I took this opti apart and inspected everything including the pulse wheel. The new pulse wheel has two very minor flaws in two small segments but it did run when I started it up. It showed no signs of rubbng the sensor like the first one.
I also pressed teshaft out cause I was going to use the old GM bas cause it has the bearing. I noticed that this Accel opti does NOT have the bronze bushing, it has the ball bearing just like the GM. I guess I got a special uni stright from the factory.
So now I am running the full Accel opti with the old GM pulse wheel and he engine runs fine so far. I rebuilt the old GM opti and the infrared sensor is clearly still dead.
By the way the Acell opti is identical to the GM opti through and through except for the bronze bushing (mine has a ball bearng) and better quality cap and rotor. The base, sensor, shaft, and shield.
