need some help making a 11sec car.

I have a 96 camaro z28 a4.
I have currently a intake and slp exhaust.
I dont want to do nitrous or a torque converter(even though a converter would help) im trying to make a daily driver high 11 street car maybe low 12s.

This is what i was going to do...headers, port and polish heads...a cam 230/236duration 510/520intake and exhaust...1.6rr...3.73s..beehive valve springs...LCAs, panhord, struct tower brace, sub-frame connectors.

Where would that put me and what else would i need to reach what im looking for?

Sell it, buy this:

Trust me, there's no cheaper way to build an 11-second car than to buy one that's already finished.

You are really going to need the converter; unless you build a forged 383 with a small cam and a nice turbo set up. Too much cam will not like the stock stall. Talk the these guys http://elliottsportworks.com/home/?page_id=51 or http://advancedinduction.com/ they can point you in the right direction for a 11 sec car; you will need more than just a high hp motor to get to 11s.

You don't need AI or LE to tell you how to get into the 11s. All of the info you need is on this forum - just do a search for people putting out those ETs and emulate what they've done. The formula is there, all you have to do is acquire the parts. For example, there's a 4 or 5 page thread a few below this one with tons of good info on how to get into the 11s...read up.

Why are you so against doing a torque converter? It makes absolutely NO sense to go through all of the trouble of doing heads/cam and keeping the stock torque converter - it will drive like absolute ***. If you want to use this car as a daily driver, you'll get a higher stall. I can only wonder why you don't want one - are you afraid it will hurt your drivability? If that's the case you are certainly mistaken. Most of the times people add a torque converter BEFORE they do any engine modifications. Maybe you've never driven in a car with a higher stall before, or perhaps you are misinformed as to how they work, but not installing a higher stall converter will be a huge mistake.

Good set of tires and a well matched trq convertor will help tons in reaching your goal. Also would look into an adjustable trq arm. Strut brace imo isnt really needed.

A good quality torque converter is a must. Years ago I was afraid to do a converter too. I just had mine reconfigured from a 3000 to a 3600 and the street manors are almost the same. To be honest it drives so nice on the street I wish I went with a 4000.

the only reason i wouldnt want a torque converter is because like i said i want a daily driver and torque converter are gas killers...but i guess if i do want a 11 second car id probably need a converter...but thanks for the info

If you don't cheap out on the converter gas mileage wont be as bad as you think. I would rather loose some mpgs instead of driving with a big cam on a stock converter. Just letting you know from my experience.

Gas mileage will go down slightly during in town driving only, once it locks up it's the same no matter what you get. My car is a daily driver, 18 mpg back and forth to work.
