I bought a air foil from my friend with a 95 z28. He had his screwed into his tb. Well i go to instal it onto my 96 z28 and there is no place for the screw? What can i do? Can i just JB weld it in place?

There is actually a bolt retainer that needs to be put inside the throttle body. Then you'll have a place to screw it in. Get that from your friend.

 

Does anyone notice any difference with the air foil? thanks

 

Mine didn't have that bolt either. I just put it in the air elbow..there is a little groove in there that'll hold it straight. No I didn't notice anything from it at all. But I know it can't hurt either.

 

So you didn't put it on the TB? You just put it straight up in the elbow? If so, that kinda defeats the purpose of it.

 

There are a couple different kinds of "air foils". The one the original poster got appears to require a bolt to hold it in the throttle body. The "nut" actually inserts inside the throttle body, under the cover plate. Apparently he didn't get the nut from his friend.

Then there are air foils without bolts. They have little clips on them that are supported by one of the creases in the intake bellows. Yet another kind is a full plastic oval with center divider that inserts into the TB with no bolts or clips.

Problem is, people are talking about 2 different kinds of air foil types.

 

So you didn't put it on the TB? You just put it straight up in the elbow? If so, that kinda defeats the purpose of it.

No..it lines right up to the TB. MIne didn't come with any screws or a nut to attatch it. It's not inside the elbow like in the middle, it's at the end of it

tell your buddy to take it out of his TB and give it to you it will definitly stop it from just rateling around in his TB. If he just un screwed it, and didn't take off the top covere and remove the nut from back there then he should still have it in the TB...

If it got lost before he gave you the air foil, then you need to;
Go to the local hardware store and find a not that will fit the screw,
Also get a big washer that won't pull through the TB,
Then go back home remove the top cover and hold the washer and nut in there while you thread the screw in from the front...

This is easy to remedy, just think about it!
It shouldn't take more then a few minutes to have this done.
