Need parts advice

okay im ready to start ording the parts for my rebuild. what i need to know is what are some good, fairly inexpensive forged rods and pistons i should look at? my plans are a 355 using the stock crank (having it turned) forged rods and pistons, set of le2 heads and a cam he recommends for about 425 to the wheels. might see a 75 shot or sts with 5 psi what do you guys recommend thanks

MachinistOne, who is without a doubt the most knowledgable engine builder on this forum, told you the answer in post #8 in your previous thread.

A better answer would be the 5.7 rods take a standard piston, if you go to a 6" rod you run them with shorter pistons. It give you less piston to move and less skirt to rub on the cylinders and frees up some power. Downside is you will get some piston "slap" until it warms up.

Piston slap is the secondary (sideways or perpendicular) movement of a piston against the side of a cylinder. All piston driven internal combustion engines and compressors have a certain amount of piston slap. excessive piston slap occurs when the clearance between the piston and the cylinder bore is too great.

Hes right about the piston slap that will happen for a little bit. Also the 5.7 rods are shorter than the 6.0 so since the 6.0 are longer you have to shorten the pistons. In the end make sure the pistons work well with your valve train they all play in important role together.
