94 camaro overheating

ok i bought a 94 camaro of my neighbor 5.7 z28 v8
and he had it in his yard sitting for about 1-2 years and everytime i turn on the car and take it for a spin or leave it on for about 20 min it overheats wen i mean by overheating i mean smoke and water starts blasting out of the radiator
what can it be? i was thinking is the water pump or the radiator is pluged up cus all that time that was sitting their
any suggestions?

if the car wasnt overheating before it sat for 2 years, then my bet is the thermostat is stuck, cheap and easy fix too.

probably right most of the time its the thermostat and since your buying a new one id just go and buy a 160 degree thermostat. Make sure there isnt any cracks in the hoses or the radiator itself. I went through this to one of my hoses had a leak so small though just a drip whcih would cause steam and smoke because with this system it doesnt matter how big the crack is because the system is run off of a pressure system with sensors so it will overheat and smoke over the smallest cracks.

The cooling system, like all cooling systems, is pressurized by the vapor pressure of the coolant, and the fact that it has a cap with an 18psi rating. There are no "sensors" involved. Maybe you are thinking of the Corvette LT1 cooling system, which is quite bit different than the F-Body system.
