Need more vaccum??

Since installing the GM847 cam, my brakes are soft but not too bad. My main problem is when I'm coming to a stop the motor feels like it's going to stall then comes back up to normal idle (900rpms). I remember hearing about a canister of some sort from Summit? Thanks everyone...

I recently installed a vacuum canister from Summit racing. While it helped out a little bit, the brakes are still not what they used to be like. I'm going to try an electric vacuum pump next.

I'm having a simular problem. Thread (RPM drops), I think its my IAC acting up but not sure. Is yours a A4? When you shift from park does it do it to? The real test , if you hold the brake and get the rpm's up without spinning the tires and then let off the gas while still holding the brake does it die or almost die? Or will it catch and hold normal idle rpm's?

Yea it's an A4... it doesn't do it from park to gear, only when driving and slowing down/coming to a stop...

Is this the vaccum can?

The vacuum cansiter I got was Summit Racing's own brand but it was similar to Cranes. It cost 33$ and I installed it underneath my CAI onto the frame (where the airpump used to be). As for electric pumps, Summit has them too, p/n SSB-28146, 259$ There are several out there but for some reason they are hard to find. the guys in the 1st and 2nd Gen tech would know where to find them since alot of their stuff isn't on the internet.

Hey Grease,

Do you know how much vacuum was added when you installed the canister?

I hope that makes sense.

It doesn't increase the vacuum but the amount of vacuum available. Its very noticable when you downshift. you can hook up a vacuum guage to the canister and find out.

Thanks Grease... is it worth it to just get the non-elec. canister or should I save up and get it? Do you have your old one handy and wanna get rid of it?
