Replace waterpump?

Well my car has 65k and the opti recently died, so I need to replace it. I am currently low on funds and would rather not replace the waterpump. How long do most people's waterpumps last? I'd hate to have it go out @ 70k and take out my new opti. Opinions?

If you're not having overheating problems I wouldn't, too much money unless it's dead or about to die. Just make sure and get 2 new gaskets. I had my opti replaced and then a month later dug back in there to try and figure out what was wrong, didn't think to replace the gaskets. Not cool having steam come out from your hood every time you stop somewhere...

mine went at 50k.. Make sure your water pump wasnt leaking out the weep hole which would spill on your opti and kill it.. Also can leak and cause corrosion on the plug that inserts into the opti which will make u have to buy a new opti harness and possibly a new opti if the corrosion is left there long enough..

I would change it. Cheep insurance. Plus you ahve to take it off anyways.

LT1 water pumps only last about 60-80k. I would replace it now, unless you plan to kill your new opti too...
