need help with pushrod length

Doing heads/cam/headers when my parts come in but I need to order the proper length pushrods. I'm going with the edelbrock heads, cc306 cam XE 230/244 112 and crane 1.6rr's. Anyone know what length pushrods i should get and what kind? Thanks

Why not stick with stock length?

It really should be measured. You will likely be ok with stock length or just a bit longer. If you don't have access to a checking PR, use one of your old ones for a guide. Stock length is 7.200" for an LT1 though.

I know at least one of the Impala guys that used the Edelbrock heads needed non-stock pushrods, maybe a quirk to these heads?

well i emailed edelbrock so hopefully they will get back to me. I will prob just call them because I am impatient anyway. So how do i measure to get the proper length?

You need a measuring pushrod. The Comp Cams catalog, which is available on-line, has detailed instructions. If you can't find someone to lend you a measuring PR you can use a pushrod of known length (like your stockers) to at least get a ballpark.

I JUST finished my heads/cam/rockers etc winter project after nine months and I had my heads milled .010" over and got bigger valves (ferrea 6000 series) and comp pro mag nsa 1.6RR with my cam. (anyways, mods in sig) and I even bought the pushrod length checker and never opened it. I was too anxious to get her running. I stuck with hardened stock length pushrods and behold, they were too long. I now need to spend the extra time and $$$ to get the 7.15" instead of the 7.20" ones.

Point is, do yourself a favor, measure the pushrod length first. Valvetrain geometry is vastly important, and there are too many variables being messed with when you do heads/cam etc.
