Thumbs up Need Help with Code 43?

I just installed a 97 LT1 in my 95 z. Ive replaced the knock module
with the LT4 one, it also has hooker long tubes, deleted egr, and air pump and all bolt ons without no internals. Ive had the car scanned and the only code that came up was code 43-ESC module. Ive replaced the coil with the MSD blaster coil. After swapping out both knock modules( LT1 stock -to-LT4) in the PCM - Ive came up with the same code both times. Also Ive swapped out the ignition modules- because of the 97 engine and with my 95 computer. Same thing that code came up both times with either module.

My ? is how do I get rid of this code. The car runs fine other than the fact of this code popping up and messing with the timing. Ne help would be much app.

Thanks,
Joe

Did you swap the 96/97 100 Kohm knock SENSOR out and replace it with the 93-95 4.5 Kohm knock SENSOR?

DTC 43 has nothing to do with the knock MODULE or the coil or the ignition module. You used the wrong code list. To avoid ambiguities, use Shoebox's LT1-specific codes list:

http://shbox.com/1/Dtcs.htm

DTC 43 = Knock Sensor (KS) circuit

When you have DTC 43, the PCM is constantly retarding the ignition timing, up to 15*, based on the readings from other engine sensors. It isn't running as well as you think it is.

Thanks for the info Injuneer. I figured out the problem. It was the knock sensor. I wasn't aware that you had to changes out the sensors beacuse of the years. I scanned it with the Snap-On Modis and thats the code it came up with.

Thanks.
