NEED HELP ASAP..A/C compressor problem.

I noticed that this forum has a great/very helpful community. So heres my problem. Ive been looking for a nice lt1 car for sale for awhile now. I haven't had any luck finding any good running one's, So I came across a nice 6spd with low miles for a damn good price.

So the guy that has it told me that the a/c compressor locks up/freezes up often and smokes the belt. Im pretty sure i'm going to buy it and I was just wondering if I can do anything "quick fix" just to get it home without paying a flatbed. I'm just wondering if I can put a smaller belt on it for now and by- pass that a/c pulley anyway ? If so does anyone know the exact belt I need to get in order for it to work correctly. Or is there anything else I might try ? If not I totally understand and i'll just go ahead and get it towed. Thanks very much - Tommy.

Unfortunately the a/c compressor is in a crucial location and there is no easy bypass (not like the V6 cars), nor is there an easy fix. Your only options are to a.) have it towed, b.) replace the compressor or c.) install the 1LE a/c delete pulley and remove the compressor (not likely something you can do at the owner's place).

I'd start the car, with the AC off. If it freewheels, I wouldn't expect it to lock-up, unless you turned the AC on.

Roll the windows down, and drive home.

Yeah I was gonna plan on doing the A/C pulley bypass after I got it home. Do any of the big chain auto parts stores have the by-pass pulley in stock ? Im gonna go look at it more tomorrow and see if the guy will let me take it to my mech. to get looked all over before I buy it, But what do you all think about the price. Dark green 94 Z28, body is great, paint is still 8/10. clean interior, 6spd, 107K...1,500 ?

Make sure you have it checked out before you buy it. If your mechanic says it's in good shape, $1500 is a great price.
