Need Cam Info.

Need some info. guys. I've been looking for a cam and had the Hot Cam or cc305 in mind. BUUUUUT.......I'm wondering if there is any cam that is suitable for my stock torque converter that is in between the 305/Hot Cam and the cc306? I'll be running stock heads for a while also, probably till next winter/spring. I know that I can get a custom grind cam done, but I was wondering if there is a cam that is already on the market for what I'm looking for? Thanks in advance.

Yea. Hot Cam sounds nice too. Whatever cam I get is going to be a 112 lsa. Wether I have to grind it or not.

How about an xe grind, steeper ramps make for more down low power. I like the xe 224/230 myself.. I'd use that on stock or moderately ported heads (with the appropriate variant lobe for the application of course - there are three to choose from)

The hot cam is a good choice also, can't beat that value with a stick..

I wouldn't bother with the 305 though, it's identical to the hotcam and would just cost a lot more. The xe grind I suggested would be more cam than the hot cam but is certainly very streetable and would pass emissions on a 112 or 114 LSA. DropTopSteve (I believe that his SN) uses this cam and I believe he said he gets 26 mpg interstate with it. Obviously you don't want to overdo it or driving that thing everyday will lose its fun.. but if you underdo it then all the time and money spent seems pointless and you'll kick yourself for not going bigger.

I really think you'd be happy with the xe 224/230

LOST, I'm not sure how familiar you are with that cam, but could I run that cam with my stock torque converter. It sounds more along the lines of what I am looking for. Thanks for the info.

Well I don't have it if that's what you're asking.. I've done no internal work yet.. just every worthwhile bolton. I also don't have an auto and don't bother to read up on them much so that compounds things. Somehow I knew you'd ask this.. and honestly I can't say for sure so I'm not going to guess.

Do a search...(I know everyone says that).

I've got a question for you though, do you think you honestly think it would be wise to run the stock converter even with the hotcam? Seems to me like that's the first and therefore the most important thing auto guys do. Now I'm not pressuring you into buying a convertor.. I'm just asking because I honestly don't know. Maybe an auto expert can chime in here.
