Re: Mysterious AC Problem

First remember that the gages in the dash are not the most accurate. Second, the fans will not come on (AC off) until the temp gets around 230F. Unless the AC is on and then the primary fan will run even when the temperature is much lower than 230F.

What you need to do is see what the temperature is being reported by the PCM and at the same time measure the actual temperature to see if they correlate. Remember the PCM uses a different sensor than the gage does and turns on the fans accordingly.

Also it never hurts to clean the radiator from time to time. And pull off the top plate above the radiator and be sure you don't have debris in front of the radiator. I had a plastic shopping bag in mine once.

Re: Mysterious AC Problem

the AC tiggers the fans, this wil help to stabilze the temps. What you need to find is that if the correct fan operation based on coolant temp is right. Stock on temps are 227 and 235. See if it's working as such.

Re: Mysterious AC Problem

Look into gettinga 160* Thermostat and Manual Fan Switch.

That is what keeps my Z28 cool while sitting in traffic in the middle of Florida Summer.

Re: Mysterious AC Problem

You could always pull out the radiator and condensor and flush them out, as well as spray water from the back to the front to get dirt out of the fins. You will have to recharge the AC though.
