The main difference is the Bore it is only like 3.80 or something a 350s is 4.00
I concur I just took my block out of my 97 T/A to the machine shop and it says 327 on the side as well. It should also have somewhere on the back molded 5.7L.

Hey, I lost your email, so I couldn't tell you when I put the engine in. I have had the car running for a couple months now. Anyway, now that I think about it, I think it did say 327, becuase I remember asking someone why it didn't say 350. Sorry about that guys, I knew it said somthing like that, but I am now pretty sure it says 327. Where does it say that on the block, so I can go check? I put my intake manifold on too, so would that fit on the other engine you guys are talking about? My exhaust m,anifold also went on with no problem, along with the AC and power steering.

TheZ was an awesome guy to deal with. He sold me the engine for a friend of his, and he helped me out with shipping and everything.

But back to the problem at hand, the plugs and wires are new, but the opti could be going bad. I am really not to worried about this though, because my old engine is getting rebuilt, with good parts this time. This engine was just to hold me over for the summer, so I could drive the car.

Again, Lamont was a great guy to deal with, and if I did end up with the wrong engine, it isn't his fault. This was the best transaction I have had onlin

You gotta figure, somebody told you the wrong #'s on the block you wold start to wonder too. There was no gun jumping, the wrong info was given. All we were trying to do was look out for a fellow F-body owner, because people do get scammed!

To identify the "Baby LT1":

265 - There was only one block used for the 265 cid version of the LT1. It’s a 10168588 casting that had the numbers "4.3" cast on the side, too. It’s real easy to spot if the heads are off because of the small 3.74" bore.

Did you go to Thunderbird raceway? My gf's dad has a 66 mustang he runs there all the time. Very powerful car, he get's rubber in 1st,2nd,and 3rd all the way down the track but still get's low mph and low times. Has DR's on too. Slight bog outta the hole, then spin a little, then chirp, chirp, and through the gates. Still getting like 14.08,14.10,14.40. Not that just getting rubber means the car is fast but if it has enough power to atleast spin DR's like that he still should have some power on tap. Just wondering if the track might be slow, or the timer is off. Haven't run my car there yet, we plan on going to a TNT in a couple Sundays I'll let you know how my car runs compared to past times at other tracks. Sorry just a thought.

Yup, I was at thunderbird. I didn't see a '66 mustang though, but there was a newer one running mid 14's. From what you described, my car should be faster than, because I usually shirp the tires in 2nd and 3rd gear. I will scan it when I get some money, because something has got to be wrong.

His stang is white with blue stripes down the middle and older crager wheels. mid 40ish bald guy. There's also sometimes a 69' yellow Z there. Runs low 12's off the bottle this year. I guess he's having tuning issues cause he was running faster last year before he put the car in storage. Doesn't want to give it the juice without it running right. In about 2 weeks then throughout the rest of the season look for a black Z with recent body work. All black, just shiny black and flat black where the primer is at. That'll be me. Maybe I'll see you there.

Edit: Forgot to mention. I'll agree with everyone else. Definately get a scan done to see if something wrong. Autozone does it for free I believe. I know they do it for a fact. But I had someone else tell me they did it for free. Worth checking out anyways.

Yeah we should hang out sometime. I'm in Big Rapids, if you don't know where it is I live about an hour north of Grand Rapids, or about an hour and 10-20 minutes northeast of you. My gf lives in White Cloud so I'm over there all the time(only about 30 min. from you at most). Those times are stretched so it's probably less driving time then that. I have a couple buddies with mustangs that live in Twin Lake, I don't know how close you are to there, but I go play with them sometimes. At any rate...after all that rambling, we don't live far apart lol.

Heck if anything I could always use another F-body owner to give me a hand with mods. Plus I love helping out other people with their cars, even if I'm just observing. I love learning all that stuff and getting to go for a ride to see what kind of gains someone else gets from the same mod I wanna do. And vice versa.

We'll keep in touch, and when I go to TB Raceway in a couple weeks, if we haven't met already I'll give you a call and have you meet me up there. Plus you'll get to see me stomp my gf's dad in his car. Him and I go back and forth like crazy about Ford's and Chevy's. He know's I love mustangs, but always forgets when I get on him about how my Chevy is gonna whoop on him. I can't wait to see his face, he's been denying it for over a year and I know I can woop him based on his times and the times I used to run before the Z went in the shop.

Shoot me an Email.

Cool, I am only about 10 minutes away from twin lake. Thunderbird is a little over 10 minutes from my house.
