My stock dyno numbers

I recently took my stock 100,000 mile '96 SS A4 to torque freaks in Portland, OR. for some baseline pulls. The result was 262 whp on the third pull (258 and 260 1st and 2nd pull respectively). They didnt hook up the inductive pickup on the spark plug wire because they didnt want to burn their hands reaching down there (plus there were 45 cars after me waiting their turn) so I didnt get a torque reading.

I was expecting more like 240-ish so I was pleasantly suprised.

What will it take to get closer to 290-300 whp?

He could get over 300 easy with full bolt-ons considering he did 262 stock.

Great numbers from a nice strong LT1. Next, Good Longtube headers, Lingenfelter CAI, Great flowing catback and a Madwolf tune. You'll be over 300rwhp in no time.

Are CAI's functional all the time? Meaning, do they supply the HP increase throughout the RPM range? I noticed my car pulls harder when I get about 85-90+

Well with your factory intake setup, it was choking in those upper RPMS. So the CAI is actually letting the motor inhale that o2 it's asking for, where in the past you were pretty restricted.

Well I know that. But I know that Ram Air also isn't very functioal until you get to higher speeds. I'm asking if a CAI is the same way.

AFAIK, the CAI works at all RPM ranges and speed.

Re: My stock dyno numbers

CAI is not speed dependant, it's RPM dependant. It helps the most at high RPM's where your engine is trying hard to get more air to breath. It helps in the lower RPM's as well, but not as much.
