Yeah! First, the discussion was about "500rwhp with stock head and intake castings". Now, it's about a "10 second car". The latter gets into issues of weight reduction and traction as much as hp.

Like jason said, I hit 10s. First did it on lt1 castings and lt1 intake. It tooks LOTS of engine tuning and suspension tuning. If fact it was a complete car from nose to tail that got me there. Of course I'm doing it with a 6 speed so it does make it harder to get a hard launch than the autos. 500 rwhp is streaching it with that setup. I'm sure it can be done(Steve quinn went 9s on lt1 castings....but I doubt any of us want to know what went into those heads..and he had a hand built higly modified lt1 intake). Not many have the knowledge to do that and it would cost a pretty penny to pay someone that did know it to get an lt1 casting there.

Now..running 10s on lt1 stuff. Lighten the car up..alot..put a suspension under it that is built strictly for drag racing. Make as much hp as you can. I got there with 428 rwhp(granted..it was through a 9" and some big gear)..but it was by no means an easy task. Few have done it...but more will come. Technology is getting better and more people are starting to see the potential of the lt1/lt4 cars. Now...for my lt4 setup. Now that the good weather is here I have 50 more rwhp and about 100(at least) lbs lighter. We will see soon what a 355 lt4 6 speed can do

Good luck in what your trying to do...but be ready for a long road that will take a descent amount of $$ to get there. Unless your like me and do all your own work..thats helps alot on the $$ part but makes it harder since you just don't write a check for the car. good luck man.

Re: My Little 355, need suggestions.

Thanks for all the input. Since it seems like its near impossible to reach 500rwhp on stock castings and stock intake I may switch to a carb setup instead. I noticed that Zex also now makes a really good kit that sprays evenly in the carb portion of the intake for better distribution so you dont run certain cylinders lean. I keep looking at that jr victor intake at my local autostore and may be time for me to switch. I really want a little more hp and you know how that is, if you cant do it on the stock setup you are willing to compromise and use another to get you where ya want.

I think I will focus on suspension and lightening first and then if I am not happy I will take a different route.

I am shifting at 7krpm. I would shift higher, but I dont think it would be worth the extra hp and or wear/tear.
