I agree, I would call Combination Motorsport (702-798-8504) and tell them what gears you have, stall size, future plans, other mods, driving style, RPM range, tuning capabilities, emissions, etc, etc, etc, and they will pick a cam that will do what you want.

There is not one perfect cam fopr everyone and ALL of the above things will determine what cam is best for you.

They can also hook you up with teh push rods, rockers, etc, and everything else you would need to complete the deal and do it right.

If you want to go with 1.7 RR now in stead of a cam... as far as I know, you don't need anything else but the rockers themselves. At least doing my 1.6 RR I didn't... I can't see why 1.7 would be different.

Edit: I just realized you have a 94... in that case.. I think you need hardened pushrods as well. (I think thats true for 93-95 right?) Someone correct me if I'm wrong

7/16" stud with the rockers...

if you go with 1.7 rockers I wouldnt go with anything above a 224/230 cam...plus if you get 1.7 rockers you have to get guideplates b/c I think they're only made in NSA form...

some 95's came with hardened pushrods, but I'd advise picking up another set of stock length hardened rods since you aren't having anything done to your heads yet (I wanna say they run ~$30 from cmotorsports)

Hope this helps!

If you're gonna get a new cam, skip the 1.7's and get a cam that gets you the lift you want with 1.6's.

How much would it cost to install new cams on the car?

well, i want to skip the cam for now and stick with the stocker. I do want to put in the 1.7's though. Do i just need new springs, guildplates and rockers and thats it? Do i need new lifters or not? This is on a budget but i want it to stay together for a long while.

New springs for sure, and new retainers and locks to go with them. Guideplates are also a must with any NON-self aligning rocker. If your stock lifters dont have too many miles on them they should work fine. I would also upgrade the pushrods, and while you're in there, spend the 20$ and get some new valve seals, umbrella type.
